Baird Holm LLP is seeking a full time Estates and Trusts Paralegal to join our top-notch Wealth Management section. Our wealth management attorneys represent individuals, families, business owners, and fiduciaries in all phases of estate planning, estate and trust administration, succession planning, ownership transition, and trust and estate litigation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administration of Estates and Trusts

Meeting and communicating with clients, beneficiaries, and others.
Preparing court documents to open, administer, and close a probate estate.
Marshalling, organizing, and analyzing asset information.
Coordinating with appraisers, accountants, and other allied advisors.
Maintaining financial records of estates and trusts and preparing accountings.
Preparing documentation needed to transfer/liquidate assets, including securities, real estate, and motor vehicles.
Organizing and maintaining client files and calendars for estate and trust administration tasks.

Tax return preparation

Preparing of federal estate gift tax returns.
Preparing federal estate tax returns.
Preparing forms for Nebraska and Iowa inheritance tax determinations and payment.

Miscellaneous

Assisting attorneys with real estate and entity transfer matters
Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

A minimum of 4 years of experience as a transactional paralegal
Strong verbal and written communication skills
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including MS Excel
Must be a proactive self-starter with high level of attention to detail
Must be a creative problem solver with strong analytical skills

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERENCES:

Bachelor's or associate's degree and/or certificate from an ABA-approved paralegal education program
Certification from a national paralegal association preferred
Estate and trust administration experience preferred
Law firm experience preferred
Familiarity with probate processes and rules, estate and gift tax laws a regulations preferred
Experience with tax return preparation software preferred.
